The Hotel Puerto de America is a luxury hotel development in Madrid. The € 75m project is unique in that 18 top architects and designers were chosen to design specific aspects, features or floors of the hotel.

Architect Kathryn Findlay worked with designer Jason Bruges and project engineers Quo Vadis to develop the 'Memory Wall' on the eighth floor. Artistic Licence was commissioned to provide both control and LED lighting.

The chosen LED lighting was the Artistic Licence Pixi-Flex (V1). Quo Vadis integrated the miniature pixels into pre-fabricated wall panels. The wall panels formed the circular walls of the lift lobby.

Control was by Colour-Tramp with multiple fire wire cameras providing the video input. Colour-Tramp was used to render the video images of customers within the lobby onto the wall of pixels. Extensive use of the time lapse effects engine was made, allowing the pixel wall to capture images for variable amounts of time.

Artistic Licence worked with both Jason Bruges and Quo Vadis throughout the installation, for both technical support and generating new features in Colour-Tramp for this prestigious project.
