Brighton West Pier
Art-Net Broadcasts in Brighton
Paul Green of Laser Grafix and Darren Parker of DPL Production Lighting have risen to the technical challenge presented to them by the Brighton Comedy Festival, to provide a temporary architectural lighting system for Brighton's derelict West Pier.
The key word being derelict. Given the pier's state of repair products could only be rigged in very specific places, whilst running any signal cables to the pier was completely impractical. Darren Parker of DPL turned to Artistic Licence to provide a solution. An Art-Net radio system was used to broadcast DMX to the various lighting points used.
All involved in the project, Laser Grafix, Amber Media and Paramount Comedy Channel were delighted with the impact of the lighting scheme, as were local residents.
DPL Production Lighting has again proved the power of Art-Net as a lighting control distribution tool in a hostile environment. Darren Parker for DPL says "We will always choose Art-Net on a project like this as it is reliable, affordable and allows us to cope with the most challenging of DMX512 distribution problems".
