Pixi-Led 10 pack
Cable mounting colour changerPixi-Led™ is a self contained LED colour change fixture. It measures 80mm in diameter and is fabricated in moulded plastic. Pixi-Led uses the latest 'point source' LED technology. The technology provides three primary coloured LEDs in a single package. The red, green and blue light emitted from the LED is effectively a single point of coloured light. This feature leads to a superb quality of colour mixture with none of the chromatic aberration familiar from earlier technologies.
Pixi-Led is a novel design. It receives power and data via a single flat cable. The clever part is that the same cable is used to suspend the fixture. Up to 20 Pixies can be driven from a single cable. This innovative suspension technique can be used to design light walls of any shape. The designer is no longer limited the rectangular shapes familiar with video wall technology.
In designing Pixi-Led, Artistic Licence has focussed on the task of perfecting the colour mixture and also providing designers with the widest possible range of colour tones. The latter has been achieved by a careful choice of LED primary colours. The results are spectacular with a range of colours that will make the most demanding lighting designer smile!
Artistic Licence regularly receives feedback from customers on their product experience. A regular comment regarding LED technology is that it is very difficult to produce good whites and yellows. Pixi-Led resolves this, a demonstration is the only way to see the quality of these colours - so come and pick your favourite colour temperature!
Mounting to a flat flexible cable opens numerous design possibilities - wrapped around a column, curved coving and ceiling suspension to name a few.
Pixi-Led contains a microprocessor that handles DMX512-A and RDM. This means there are no fiddly DIP switches to set. Everything is done from the console including diagnostic information such as temperature and lamp hours. Pixi-Led uses just three channels for control of red green and blue. Colour-Tramp 2U is optimised for controlling arrays of Pixi-Led.
It may sound like the cry of a revolutionary Pixie but it is actually the power and data distribution for Pixi-Led. It can power 20 Pixies and also provides isolated DMX512-A and RDM buffering. The product can be wall, ceiling or truss mounted Pixi-Power L1.
Pixi-Led is sold in boxes of 10. The box contains 9 standard units and 1 terminated unit. The terminated unit is identified by a small blue dot. The terminated unit is designed to operate at the very end of the cable. There must be one terminated unit per cable. Termination is achieved with an internal switch. The user guide describes the process of changing the termination setting.
Pixi-Led is shipped with a start address of 001. You can reprogram this using RDM from either DMX-Workshop, Grand-Master Flash! or Colour-Tramp. Other manufacturers are now starting to support RDM. If your chosen control system does not yet support RDM, Jump-Start can be used to set the start address and all other RDM parameters.
If you are planning to use Pixi-Led with a non-RDM controller, please ask us to pre-program your start addresses when you order.
