DALI to DMX or DMX to DALI
Rail-DALI™ is a true bridge between architectural and entertainment lighting. The product converts DMX512 to DALI and DALI to DMX512.DMX512 is the lighting protocol of choice in entertainment lighting. DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) is used in many architectural applications. By bridging the two, Rail-DALI simplifies the task of adding effects lighting to an existing DALI room controller or integration of functional lighting with a DMX based lighting console.
Up to 256 channels, over four DALI circuits can be controlled. Programmable channel count is provided, allowing the user to define the trade off between cost and bandwidth.
The product supports the very latest version of DALI by offering bidirectional data flow. Back channel DALI information on light level and fault status is converted to RDM status information. This allows the lighting control system to monitor light status as well as control intensity.
The control interface uses DMX512 and RDM or remote Device Management. The RDM interface allows the start address to be set by the console over the DMX512 cable. RDM also allows the product to receive firmware upgrades and run diagnostics tests.
In the event that the console does not support RDM, Jump-Start can be used to set the start address. Dali-Scope can be used to test and commission the DALI fixtures.
DMX512 loop through and termination options are provided.
Warning: A DALI data circuit requires a DALI Bus PSU for correct operation. Please refer to the manual for more information. An example DALI Bus PSU is a Rail-PSU-D4
Warning: Rail-DALI, while converting from DALI to DMX, does not simulate a DALI ballast. It has been designed to be non-intrusive on the DALI network so it can be used within an existing systems. It should not be used with a DALI controller that requires to see DALI ballasts to enable transmitting of DALI values.
